Here is another interesting seedling I selected out of tissue culture due to the extremely long cilia (teeth) it produces. I compared it to a ‘Fang’ Venus Flytrap I’m currently growing, and the cilia on this seedling seems to dwarf ‘Fang’. I’ll continue to watch this seedling to see if it continues to produce these long and extremely stunning cilia.
Please feel free to leave a comment on if you think it’s worth keeping in tissue culture. I would appreciate your feedback.

Deflasked and almost ready for sale at the VFT Shop and HomeGrown Carnivorous Plants is a new Venus Flytrap cross developed by Trev Cox from the VFT Shop called ‘Big Mouth x Piranha’.
What sets ‘Big Mouth x Piranha’ apart from other Venus Flytrap crosses is the cilia (teeth) it produces is shaped similar to ‘Red Piranha’, but seems to grow slightly longer in size.
We will update you as soon as this new cross is available for sale.
Just deflasked from tissue culture is an interesting seedling that we are temporarily labeling ‘Barbed Wire’. ‘Barbed Wire’ is a result of a VFT Shop crossing between the Venus Flytrap varieties ‘B52′ and ‘Giant Form’. What seems to set ‘Barbed Wire’ apart from other Venus Flytrap varieties is its short, extremely serrated cilia. We will be watching this new seedling closely over the next several months to monitor its growth habits.

I wanted to post a few photos of a very unique looking seedling that we recently deflasked from tissue culture. This seedling is a result of a seed cross between ‘B52′ and ‘Giant Form’ which was produced by Trev Cox at the VFT Shop, and tissue cultured at the lab of HomeGrown Carnivorous Plants.
The ‘B52 x Giant Form’ cross seems to be developing short and jagged looking teeth (cilia), with a nice reddish-orange coloration to the plant. Hopefully next year we will have it available for purchase at the VFT Shop and HomeGrown Carnivorous Plants.

Just deflasked from tissue culture is the much debated Venus Flytrap variety known as ‘Spotty’. ‘Spotty’ was named after the blotchy patterns of red that can be found throughout its leaves and traps. If you would like to see a photo of ‘Spotty’ showing this unusual pattern of spots, please visit our earlier blog post here.
I’ll make sure to update the blog as the plants harden, and hopefully produces its pattern of blotchy red coloration it’s known for.
For European Union customers ‘Dentate x Piranha’ is now available at the VFT Shop in limited supply. If you live within the European Union and would like to purchase a ‘Dentate x Piranha’, please feel free to e-mail me at Trev@VFTShop.com for availability.
